Metta World Peace Suspension: Right or Wrong? By Lauren Beasley
The NBA responded to Metta World Peace's (Ron Artest) latest act of aggression towards James Harden with a seven-game suspension for World Peace.
Now some people believe this punishment is not enough, others believe this seven game suspension is just the right type of punishment.
I personally believe this is the right punishment. I think people don’t realize how much this seven game suspension could affect the Lakers going in to the playoffs.
Lakers are more than likely going to face the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. Now I anticipate this will be good series but for whatever reason if the Lakers were to sweep the Nuggets now the Lakers would be facing their next opponent still without Metta World Peace at least for two more games.
Just as I said before the Nuggets are a nice team who has played well this season, somewhat inconsistent but still good. With World Peace being suspended for seven games, they lose a lock down defender, which the Lakers will need against the talented and young Nuggets.
So in my opinion, this seven game suspension has an impact on the Lakers either way it isn’t a good impact.
I feel the suspension was appropriate, yet I will say if they had suspended him for the rest of the season I wouldn’t have had a problem with that either but in this case I believe they are giving World Peace the benefit of the doubt.
