Giants vs Patriots: Game Full of X-Factors by Lauren Beasley
It’s Super Bowl Time Again People! This year we have a rematch! New York Giants vs. New England Patriots!
Who do you think will win?
I personally am picking the Patriots to win this year’s Super Bowl. I
know you’re probably thinking (16-0) Patriots couldn’t beat the Giants last
time, but I’m here to tell you it’s going to be
different.
This year’s New England Patriots remind me of the 2011 NBA Champions Dallas Mavericks, they are on a mission. Tom Brady ion a totally different level along with the rest of the team. They are ready for another championship.
With the Giants it’s the same old story, they have inconsistent regular season but when the playoffs come they are truly a different team. I swear it seems no matter what when Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin job is on the line, something in this team sparks.
Going in to this game, there will be some key factors for the Giants to win. First off, Giants need great play from Eli Manning but I believe for Eli to have a good game he will need Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs to do well rushing wise. They combined for 1,230 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns this season. One thing that makes the Giants so deadly is the fact is they can beat you through the air and on the ground. Defensively the Giants have been great, with total of 20 interceptions this season and forcing 18 fumbles.
The biggest X-Factor for the Giants will be there defensive line and their pass rush; if they can get to Tom Brady and make him feel uncomfortable they have a huge
chance of winning. Remember this is a team that has a total of 48 sacks this season (3rdmost in the NFL), their defense is the true X-Factor in this game, you stop Tom Brady, and they will win the game.
Patriots offensively are probably arguably the second best offensive team after the New Orleans Saints. They had a total of 6,848 yards offensively, 5,084 passing yards and 1764 rushing yards, which leads me to the X-Factors for the Patriots to win. Offensively they must continue to do what they have been doing, make good passes and catch the ball, it’s really simple. Now the big X-Factor for the Patriots offensively will be protecting Tom Brady and giving him time inthe pocket. Now of course that won’t be easy but that will be one of the huge factors for this team. Another factor for them offensively will be rushing, ifthey are able to run the ball, it will open things up for the pass as well.
Defensively especially in the playoffs, the Patriots have been great, they will definitely have to continue to play well defensively. The linebackers and secondary will be the true X-Factors in this game, for the Patriots to win. Linebackers have to contain the run, which won’t be easy but they have to do their best to slow it down or at least make sure it doesn’t get out of control. I’m looking for the secondary to do well as well. The Giants have plenty of receivers in Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, Jake Ballard, Mario Manningham; they will even have to contain Ahmad Bradshaw who sometimes plays a key into the passing game. Lastly I’m looking forward to seeing how much pressure Patriots
will be able to put on Eli Manning.
This is a game full of X-Factors for both teams and I can’t wait to see
how both teams play!
